Dedicated to strong schools, engaged communities, and a bright future for our children.

About me

A long-standing track record of serving my community.

My name is Lynn Powers, and I am running as a write-in candidate for the Brookline School Board. I believe in strong schools, engaged communities, and a bright future for our children.

I have a long-standing track record of serving my community. As a former Army officer who served with Special Forces, I understand the importance of leadership, integrity, and teamwork—values that I bring to every challenge I take on. Beyond my military service, I have dedicated my time to making a difference as a foster parent, a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer, and a current Girl Scout troop leader.

But above all, I am a parent. My husband, Pat, and I have two children, Hannah (9) and Connor (7), who are students in our district. Like any parent, I want to see our schools provide the best education and opportunities possible. That’s why I’m committed to ensuring that every student receives the support, resources, and strong foundation they need to thrive.

As a business leader and community advocate, I understand how to make smart, strategic decisions that serve the best interests of both our students and taxpayers. This election is about putting students first, supporting educators, and building a stronger future together. I would be honored to earn your vote as a write-in candidate.

Empowering Education

“Lynn and her family have welcomed us with open arms since the moment we pulled up to our new Brookline home almost a decade ago. A loving mother, caring friend, and steadfast member of the community, I can see a bright future for the Brookline educational system with Lynn Powers in a School board position. Her dedication and commitment to children, education and the Brookline community are unmatched.”

What I’m Committed to:

Enhancing Student Success

EVERY child should have access to a well-rounded education at their level that prepares them for the future. We must ensure our curriculum is strong, diverse, and adaptable to meet the needs of all learners.

Supporting Our Teachers

Educators are the backbone of our schools, and they need our support. From fair compensation to professional development opportunities, we must equip them with the resources they need to succeed in the classroom.

Strengthening Community Engagement

Schools thrive when parents, teachers, and community members work together. I want to foster transparency and open communication between the school board and the families we serve.

Responsible Budgeting and Resource Allocation

Every dollar spent should directly contribute to improving student learning. I will work to ensure financial decisions are made with the best interests of our students in mind.

A bright future for our families, teachers and community!

I am running a WRITE IN campaign – my name will not be on the ballot, that means YOU need to vote on March 11 and write in my name alongside voting for fellow candidate Heather Doolittle Reardon!

I have a proven passion for children, our schools, and serving the community in which I live. The things I am most proud of are the things I have done to help and support others – the 10 years I served in the US Army, my time as a CASA/GAL, a foster parent, and a girl scout troop leader. Most of all being a supportive parent to Hannah & Connor. I would be honored to continue serving my community as a school board member.

Remember to Empower Education!
